For those of you who haven’t seen it, this is the logo for the US Postal Service:<\/p>\n

This is one of the best single pieces of graphic design I’ve ever seen.<\/em> Why? it’s simple and powerful. A few straight lines and simple curves evoke \t\t\t\talmost perfectly the qualities of speed, resolve, and competence, which is exactly \t\t\t\twhat the Postal Service would like to convey about itself.<\/p>\n

In mathematics and computer science, we say that something (a proof, a program) that \t\t\t\taccomplishes its task simply is elegant. Ladies and gentlemen, that’s what this is:<\/p>\n
